## About Us
It started with the restoration of Fernie’s 1908 schoolhouse, a former place of education for many locals, who attended this high school between the dates of 1909 – 1998. A $30 million dollar restoration of this property transformed the grounds into luxury residences, vacation rentals and a commercial space fit for a spa; the once run down building was rejuvenated into a place of retreat and relaxation for locals and visitors, within the beautiful town of Fernie, BC.
The team at Spa 901 is passionate about wellness, combining talents in esthetics, skincare, as well as massage and spa therapy. The team strives to provide an exceptional spa experience for guests, through a range of personalized treatments, a high standard of customer service and a warm and welcoming environment.
In honor of its historic roots, key areas of the spa maintained exposed brick walls, original to the 1908 school house, and a large chalk board written ‘Old School Pampering’ was created as the centre piece of the retail area. A beautiful and cozy environment to relax, Spa 901 features seven treatment rooms, spacious change rooms, two relaxation areas, as well as an outdoor hot pool which operates year round.

#### Frequently Asked Questions
How do I prepare for a Japanese Head Spa Treatment?
It is recommended that you do not have make-up or skincare products around your hairline. A tray will be provided in the treatment room if you need to remove any jewelry from the neck upwards as well, as hands/arms, or we recommend leaving these items at home.
**After Your Treatment**:
We suggest to avoid washing your hair immediately: Wait at least 24 hours before washing your hair after a head spa treatment. This will allow the oils and nutrients from the treatment to absorb into your scalp.
If absolutely needing to wash within 24hours, a double shampoo wash will help to remove the access residue, important to note that the oils and nutrients may not of had full absorbency from the treatment.
*Hydrate*: Drink water to stay hydrated post-treatment. Hydration supports overall skin and scalp health, enhancing the benefits of your head spa experience.
What are the benefits of Japanese Head Spa?
The Japanese Head Spa Treatment is a luxurious treatment that not only relaxes through massage, but also cleanses the scalp of dirt and grime that cannot be washed out with daily shampoos, making the scalp and hair healthier at the same time. Spa Cleaner (Position Filled)

Do you love cleanliness and possesses a high level of attention to detail? Do you love receiving massages? We are currently seeking a reliable part-time cleaner, who is available two days per week for an evening clean of the spa.
We are looking for an applicant who is able to work a set schedule, (Monday/ Thursday, or Tuesday/Friday evenings preferred, however negotiable). Rate of pay is $22/hour, plus one 60 minute massage per month, to help your body recover from the physical work of cleaning.

The health, comfort and quality of experience that our guests receive is our top priority. To help us provide the best possible experience during your visit, please review the following policies and spa etiquette guidelines:
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or change your reservation, we require **24 hours notice**, so that we can arrange for other clients to take your place. If you are not able to provide 24 hours notice, and we are unable to fill the time reserved for you, a late cancellation fee of 50% of appointment fee will be owed. The full cost of service will be charged for no shows, or appointments cancelled within 2 hours of appointment time. Please contact the spa directly to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
*(Please be aware that late cancellation and no show fees cannot be billed to your benefit plan and will be due prior to your next appointment. In the event that your missed appointment was booked using a gift certificate, the fee will be deducted from the balance of the gift certificate.)*
Please DO NOT come into your appointment if you are feeling ill or experiencing symptoms of covid-19, if you are awaiting test results, or have been in close contact with someone who has recently tested positive for covid 19. Please notify us as soon as possible so we can arrange for other clients to take your place. You will be able to reschedule when a period of 10 days has passed, and you can confirm symptoms have resolved. **information page.**
Does Spa 901 have age restrictions?
Yes. Most treatments and access to the spa amenities (outdoor pool and relaxation lounges) are available to guests 16 years and older. **Exceptions:**
1\) Our teen facial is available to guests aged 14 – 15, however a parent or legal guardian MUST be present and consent given on intake form to receive treatment. Teens aged 14 – 15 are able to use the hot pool if they are accompanied by a guardian. No further age exceptions can be made.
2\) Pedicure appointments are available to guests aged 6 – 15, when a parent of legal guardian is present, however due to insurance purposes guests under the age of 14 are excluded from the use of the hot pool and amenities.
For safety considerations and in respect of the quiet enjoyment of other guests, we ask that you please do not bring babies or young children to your appointment with you.
Should I disclose allergies or health conditions?
If you have health conditions or allergies, this can be advised during the reservation process, by phoning the spa directly, indicating on your health history form and again with your therapist prior to beginning your service. Certain services will exacerbate health conditions and should be avoided and/or consulted with a medical practitioner for clearance.
Please be advised our facility is **not a nut-free environment**, some of our treatments & common areas contain products that include ingredients or scents that may cause reactions or sensitivities. Please advise of any known allergies as we recognize the need for tailored solutions to enhance the comfort of our clients, reasonable steps can be taken to reduce risk and alternative options may be available.
Will my massage be covered by insurance?
Due to the massage regulations in British Columbia, your massage will only be eligible for an insurance receipt if you book in with one of our BC Registered Massage Therapists. To do this, please search availability for “BC Registered Massage” or request at the time of booking.
All other massage services, including personalized massage, are performed by our Spa Therapists, who are fully certified and experienced in massage. Our Spa Therapists have completed full massage diploma programs and are able to alter the service to meet your unique needs. Due to the fact that they are not BC Registered, they do not have a registration number to provide on the receipt and your massage will not be covered by insurance.
Please be aware the availability for BC registered massage is limited, and we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
What is included in the cost of my service?
Use of our spa amenities (traditional sauna and heated outdoor pool) is complimentary, by reservation only, when you book in services valued at $150 or more (per person). Access to any spa service valued under $150 can be **added on** for a fee of $25 and is by availability only. We have a capacity limit of 10 guests in the outdoor pool area, so that we can maintain a tranquil experience for our guests, therefore specific time will be booked in for use.
A robe and locker is provided to clients booked in for massage, body and facial treatments, however not provided for esthetic services (pedicure, waxing), unless pool access is added-on.
Taxes and gratuities are not included in the listed service price. Gratuities are appreciated by our team, however they are not expected, optional and up to the discretion of the guests.
Payment types and receipts
We accept debit, Visa, Mastercard, Amex or Spa 901 gift cards for payment (Spa 901 gift cards/credits can not be used towards Botox/Dermal Filler services, as the clinics are administered by an independent physician).
Please be aware that we are unable to process third party gift cards (Spa Finder, Visa Gift, etc.) and are unable to direct bill for services or process WBC claims.
Insurance receipts for BC registered massage services will be issued to the individual who received the massage treatment, on the date the treatment took place. If paid for with a gift certificate, the receipt will reflect this payment type.
Appointment arrival, expectations and what should I wear?
Please arrive 10 minutes in advance of your appointment time, so that there is sufficient time for our check-in process. Arriving late will limit the time for your treatment, thus lessening the effectiveness and enjoyment of the service. Treatments will end on time so that adjacent bookings are not delayed, and the full value of the service will be charged.
If you have reserved time in the pool, please arrive at your scheduled time so that you can maximize the enjoyment of your time within the spa. We have capacity limits within the pool and specific times are booked in for use.
Our staff are professionally trained therapists who use draping techniques to ensure that your intimate areas are fully covered at all times during your appointment. If you are uncomfortable fully disrobing, we ask that you bring a comfortable pair of shorts to change into and communicate with your therapist so that you can fully relax and enjoy the services being provided.
Spa 901 is not held responsible for any lost or stolen items.
All services at the spa are of a therapeutic nature. Any sexual, lewd or inappropriate behaviour from a guest, toward one of our team members, will terminate the service without reimbursement. In these instances, the client relationship will also terminate, with no further appointments conducted at the spa moving forward.
Can I bring alcohol and / or use my cell phone?
No. Please do not bring alcohol with you or consume on our premise. Spa 901 is not commercially licensed by the BC liquor authority, therefore consumption of alcohol, cigarettes and cannabis products is prohibited. For your enjoyment, following your time at the spa, our team is happy to recommend amazing restaurants within walking distance.
We ask all guests to respect the quiet enjoyment of others and limit noise level within our space. Cell phones and personal devices are to be turned off or to silent upon entering the spa to avoid disrupting the enjoyment of experience for other guests in the relaxation areas and in service.
Spa promotions / Gift certificates
We love our clients and show our appreciation through our monthly spa promotions, as listed on our website. We encourage you to follow us on social media (Instagram / Facebook) to stay current with offerings at the spa. Discounts and promotional offers from Spa 901 cannot be stacked with one another or used toward BC registered massage, rebook services or pre-packaged offerings.
Gift certificates are available in **dollar amounts only** and can be redeemed toward any service, package or retail item at Spa 901, however can not be used to tip a service provider. Our pricing may change from time to time, and original purchase price of gift certificate can be used toward any service choices. Gift certificates are non-refundable and have no cash value.

**Exciting Update for Our Botox Clients!**
We have some important news to share! Starting **April 1, 2026**, all Botox appointments with **Dr. Krushel** will be booked through our new sister business, **901 Clinical Aesthetics**.
Don’t worry—our clinics will continue to operate in the same convenient location, but moving forward, Botox services will now be part of the new clinical side of 901.

Targeting fine lines and wrinkles, Botox and Dysport are one of the most effective ways to look younger and bring balance to your facial features. They are especially useful in the upper face for forehead lines, frown line’s between the eyebrows and crows feet. However, treatments can also be useful in the lower face to reduce a downturned or gummy smile, bunny nose and prominent skin bands.
Botox treatments for medical conditions, such as Bruxism, Chronic Migraine Headaches, and Hyperhydrosis are available, please read further information below if booking Botox for medical purposes.

How is Botox/Dysport administered? Is it safe?
Botox / Dysport is administered by injecting facial muscles using very small needles. Some northerners say the needle poke feels like a little mosquito bite, but without the itching and swelling.
These medications, when administered by an experienced physician, are a safe, effective non-surgical answer to achieving a well-rested and invigorated appearance.
Facial Rejuvenation with Dermal Fillers
**Hyaluronic Acid HLA Fillers:** I use Dermal Fillers that are made from Hyaluronic Acid (HLA),
a naturally occurring chemical in the body and skin that is renowned for its ability to
absorb water, providing hydration and volume to the skin.
**The Aging Process:** As we age, the youthful lift provided by our cheek bones and natural
upper face fat pads can diminish and slide to the lower face, leading to a drooping or
sagging appearance in the cheeks and jowls. This aging process can also contribute deep
lines and grooves in the lower face (such as deep nasolabial folds, smile lines, and
marionette lines). Small amounts of appropriately specific types of Dermal Filler can
enhance our appearance by providing lift while restoring lost volume. Dermal Fillers are
commonly used to volumize and rejuvenate such areas as the cheeks and temples to
provide lift and support, providing a more youthful and rested appearance. They can of
course provide a natural appearing lip enhancement that can last for up to a year. They are
commonly administered to soften the sunken areas such as the tear troughs, nasolabial
folds, and marionette lines. They are commonly used in the jawline and chin. Soft dermal
fillers can be injected directly into the skin to hydrate and rejuvenate, as well as to soften
perioral, smile lines, smoker’s lines, and neck lines. Dermal fillers in the nose, known as a
liquid nose job, can be effective in creating a natural and soft appearing nasal structure.
**Questions and Answers:**
*How long do dermal fillers last?* The rejuvenating effect of dermal fillers is immediately
apparent after injection. Your body will naturally absorb dermal fillers over time. An
excellent treatment effect can last from 4 months to 24 months, depending upon the type
and amount of filler used, and how quickly one’s body metabolizes it.
*Are Dermal Fillers Expensive?* The cost of dermal fillers depends upon several factors
including the area or areas administered, and the amount required. Usually, one treatment
is all that is required. I will not recommend any filler in excess to what you require to meet your goals. I will always be open and honest as to what dermal fillers can and cannot achieve, and I will let you know of any appropriate other options. **Consultation is free.**
*Do Dermal Fillers hurt?* Dermal Fillers are administered using small needles or cannula
through the skin and into the desired treatment area. I take a number of measures to
ensure that the procedure is as pleasant as possible, including applying anesthetic to the
skin prior to the procedure. Most dermal fillers also contain anesthetic, such that the
procedure is usually described as only mildly painful or uncomfortable.
*What is your experience?* I have been utilizing dermal fillers in my practice for 3 years on
hundreds of satisfied patients at multiple Medical Clinic and MedSpa locations in British
Columbia, Alberta, and the Northwest Territories. I pride myself on listening to the client’s
needs and goals via a free no-pressure consultation. I then provide my best advice for the
cost-effective approach to meet the client’s goals.
What are the contraindications? Are there potential side effects?
You must be over the age of 19 to receive Botox / Dysport at one of our clinics.
You can not receive botox or Dysport, if you have any of the following contraindications:
- Allergy to BOTOX or Dysport
- Pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are currently breastfeeding.
- Severe allergy to eggs or milk (can be discussed with Dr.Krushel before, or at time of appointment)
- Some progressive and severe neurological diseases (i.e. myasthenia gravis)
Possible side effects include:
- Redness and swelling, bruising and discolouration, itching, and pain and tenderness at the injection sites, which could last for several days.
- Rare side effects include ptosis (eyelid drooping), which may last for several weeks.
I am interested, but I don't want to look "frozen"...
Botox does not increase the volume of the face and does not cause plump or filling effects. Dr. Krushel seeks to reduce wrinkles and fine lines while leaving natural expressions intact, resulting in a smoother and more youthful appearance.
How long does Botox or Dysport last?
Typically 3 months. However this depends very much on one’s metabolism and the strength of their muscles. Effects start approximately 1 week after the injection.
Post-treatment expectations and instructions:
You will begin to feel and see some changes in approximately 2-4 days, following a treatment, with the full effect occurring in two weeks. We strive to create results that make the treatment area appear smoother, with reduced facial lines and wrinkles, while still looking natural.
Possible effects include redness and swelling, bruising and discolouration, itching, and pain and
tenderness at the injection sites. These side effects may last for several days. You may take
acetaminophen (Tylenol). Rare side effects include ptosis (eyelid drooping), which may last for several
weeks.
**For 1 Hour:** Exercise the treatment muscles by frowning, raising your eyebrows, and smiling.
**For 3 Hours**: Remain upright (do not lie down) and do not rub the treated areas. We recommend
avoiding strenuous physical activity, hot tubs, saunas, facials, alcohol, and aspirin/anti-inflammatories for
at least several hours, and ideally, the rest of the day.
Neuromodulator treatments provide results which usually last for 3 to 4 months. Over time repeated
treatments may provide a satisfactory result for longer, and/or with less units required to maintain a
similar result.
What is the cost?
Dr. Krushel prides himself on placing every unit of Botox in the most effective locations, to ensure that clients get the desired effect in the most cost-effective way. Sessions typically range from 10 – 60 units, dependent on number of areas you are looking to have treated.
Botox treatments for medical conditions, such as Bruxism, Migrane, and Hyperhydrosis are available at a reduced cost. Please contact Glow Medical Aesthetics at (403) 795-2012 or info@drkrushel.com for details, prior to booking an appointment, as a short consult will need to be performed.
\*\*\*Please be aware that these clinics are operated by Dr.Krushel, Glow Medical Aesthetics, and payment will be collected directly from him at the end of the appointment. 24 hours notice is required for appointment cancellations. **Booking a Group**
When booking as a group you will have a dedicated group coordinator to assist you with your reservations. To avoid disappointment for your group and ensure we can accommodate your group size we recommend that you contact us at least 6-8 weeks in advance.
**How do I book in a group spa experience?**
Kindly fill out and submit the group request form below. Once we have received your request, we will review to find the best fit for your event. Our group booking coordinator will get back to you with either a confirmation the event can be accommodated or alternative ideas for the best fit.
If confirmed, we will hold time in our schedule and will send a form to the primary group contact, where you will need to provide full group details and requested services, so that our group booking coordinators can organize your time at the spa.
We will require a valid Credit Card to hold your group’s reservation, all bookings are subject to our group cancellation policy, see FAQ below for details.
Beginning May 1st 2023, for groups of 4+ individuals, a small administrative service fee will be added to the booking. This is not an automatic gratuity.

### Group sizing & Packages
With our current staffing levels, we are able to accommodate groups of up to 4 – 8 guests, dependent on requested services and preferred date.
We do not offer set group packages, as we find most guests prefer to choose their own treatments. We encourage you to visit the promotions or packages page of our website for our latest offerings, or browse the full list of services by [clicking here](https://spa901.ca/services/).
### Cancellation policy
For groups of 4 or more, we require 72 hours notice, if you need to cancel your group reservation. This allows our team enough time to call our waitlist and fill spots with other guests.
If under 72 hours notice is given and we are unable to fill the time reserved, a 50% charge per affected appointment will be incurred. If a ‘no show’ occurred for the entire group or for certain appointments in the reservation 100% charge will be incurred. ### can we bring alcohol or food?
We are happy to recommend amazing bars and restaurants where you can enjoy food and drink, following your time at the spa. Our premise is not commercially licensed for alcohol consumption, therefore ask that you please do not bring it with you or consume during your visit to the spa.

Please be aware that other guests will be enjoying services within the spa, during the time of your group booking. We ask that you please be mindful of noise levels and time of occupancy within the relaxation lounges.
In order to ensure that full treatment times are provided, we require each individual in your group to arrive minimum 10 minutes ahead of their appointment time. A full itinerary will be forwarded to the primary group contact when your booking is complete.

## Microdermabrasion
We have paired our Dermalogica ProSkin60 facial with Microdermabrasion to deliver a targeted skin resurfacing treatment. In this treatment we use high performance products and the unique wet/dry microdermabrasion diamond-tip technology, to remove dry/dead skin, unclog pores, treat acne, as well as address fine lines and uneven skin tone.
So what is Microdermabrasion? Can everyone receive this treatment? What will it feel like? Let us answer some of the most common questions for you:
What is the ProSkin 60 + Microdermabrasion treatment?
This treatment follows the same steps of our ProSkin 60 facial, with the incorporation of wet/dry microdermabrasion into our cleansing and resurfacing/exfoliation steps, giving an additional 10 minutes of service. With the ProSkin 60, we have the ability to fully customize the facial products based on the skin type, concerns and goals. With the wet/dry microdermabrasion we also have the ability to select the coarseness of the diamond and vacuum level based your skin texture.
What is wet/dry microdermabrasion?
Wet/dry microdermabrasion resurfaces the skin while encouraging lymphatic drainage, improving blood circulation, and stimulating collagen, and is used in conjunction with our Advanced Dermalogica professional skin care.
Wet/dry microdermabrasion uses a diamond-tipped wand that provides a very even and consistent flow of suction. It is considered controlled exfoliation because it uses a diamond-head tip (not crystal), which ensures a consistent amount of abrasion, and we can further customize the exfoliation for differing skin sensitivity levels by using the tip with either a finer/coarser grit.
Our treatment is performed on wet skin through the use of personalized products, then the diamond tip is passed over sections of the face. Conducting this treatment on wet skin allows for deeper penetration and aids to reduce redness or irritation.
Who is this treatment best suited for?
Microdermabrasion generally suits all skin types, with the exception of clients with sensitive skin, rosacea, eczema or those with delicate/fragile mature skin. In addition, we are unable to perform this treatments on clients with the following contraindications:
- Pregnancy
- Recent resurfacing such as laser, light therapy, microdermabrasion or
- Chemical peel within the past two weeks
- Has received cosmetic injectables within the past week
- Has used Retin-A within the past 48 hours
- Has used isotretinoin (Accutane) in the past six months
- Has waxed within the past 48 hours
- Contagious skin disease or infection
- Diabetes (insulin dependent)
- Any medications that causes sensitivity to sun exposure
- Blood transmitted diseases (HIV, hepatitis, herpes, etc)
- Hemophilia
- Under a physician’s care for any disease, illness, or injury
If a contrainication is present at time of booking, or when your skin therapist is completing their consult, they will alter treatment and perform the ProSkin 60 facial, without the incorporation of Microdermabrasion.
Is there downtime / what results does it deliver?
There’s no downtime! Each procedure works progressively, bringing increased skin correction with additional sessions, you can expect a fresher-looking complexion, as dead flaky skin on the surface is removed. It can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, soften the appearance of scars, lighten brown spots, decongest acne lesions and pores, and hydrate and exfoliate dry skin allowing a glow to appear. The treatment also stimulates the skin to produce collagen and elastin leading to smoother skin tone and texture.
What can I expect during the treatment?
During a treatment, your skin therapist will run a handheld device with unique, interchangeable tips across your skin. This will painlessly lift off the outermost dry, damaged layers of the skin, revealing the healthy layers of skin beneath, expect smooth and refreshed appearance of your skin.
Aftercare?
After your treatment, you can resume normal activities and your skincare and makeup routine. It is important to follow the instructions of your skin therapist and use any recommended products that are formulated in a regimen.

Covid-19 Safety Plan
### Illness
***The health and safety of our team members and guests is important to us. Due to the close nature of delivering personal services:***
***We ask that you please reschedule your appointment if:***
- You are experiencing cold / flu or symptoms or are generally feeling unwell, including: Fever/chills, new or worsening cough, sore throat, shortnesss of breath, etc.
- You have tested positive for covid-19. In this instance, we are asking that guests rebook after a period of 10 days has passed and symptoms have resolved.
- Are awaiting covid-19 test results
- You have been in close contact with someone who has recently tested positive.
Please notify us as soon as possible so we can arrange for other clients to take your place.
***We also have a strict policy for our employees to notify us immediately if they are experiencing symptoms and to not attend work**.* In these instances, we may have to cancel or reschedule your appointment, and we kindly ask that you please be understanding, as it is always a last resort for our team. We will always do everything we can to get another service provider to cover your appointment, however should an employee fall ill, we may not always be able to find coverage.
### masks & arrival times
Masks are no longer required to be worn by our guests, coordinators or therapists within the indoor spaces of the spa. We respect personal choice and will continue to provide complimentary medical grade masks, for clients or team members who still choose to wear one. If you would prefer to have your therapist wear a mask during treatment, please mention prior to treatment commencing; they are happy to wear one for your comfort and have readily accessible in each treatment room.
### intake & screening
An electronic intake form will be sent upon booking an appointment with us, which we kindly ask to be filled out prior to arriving at the spa. Intake form will be **required for all new clients**, **or clients who have not visited us in over a year**.
### disinfection
Although we have always maintained industry-standard disinfection protocols and impeccable cleaning routines, we have elevated our protocols by introducing only Canada Health approved hard-surface disinfectants and hand sanitization stations. Our team has been trained in the correct protocols in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions in order to confidently clean, sanitize, disinfect and sterilize against Covid-19. We are committed to ensuring our workstations and our workplace is clean and safe for all our guests and colleagues.
Our treatment linens are laundered through a commercial cleaning company, who processes using a three-tier system that meets all safety guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and The Joint Commission (TJC).
As always, tools and implements used during treatments are disinfected and sterilized with medical-grade and Canada Health approved solutions, in-between each client.

## Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a mechanical and superficial form of exfoliation, that removes the outer most layers of dead skin cells, leaving the skin immediately smooth and glowing. The process involves using a surgical steel blade, with small scraping movements across the skin, to remove dead skin cells and increase cellular turnover. Dermaplaning helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, improves product penetration, helps target pigmentation irregularities, superficial acne scarring, congestion and removes vellus hair on the surface of the skin.
What can I expect in treatment?
This treatment follows similar steps of our ProSkin 60 facial, with the incorporation of dermaplaning resurfacing and a jelly mask. After double cleansing the skin, your skin therapist will use a sterile, single-use surgical steel blade to “scrape” the skin in an upward motion. Once resurfacing is complete, a serum will be applied, followed by a soothing jelly mask to increase product penetration and help calm the skin. During this step, a hand/arm massage will be performed. The treatment is completed by layering professional Dermalogica product and and applying SPF. Your skin therapist will recommend product at the end of the treatment for at-home use.
Is there downtime? What about aftercare?
The skin may feel hot and flushed for the first day after the treatment and/or you may notice redness, for up to two days, depending on skin sensitivity. Occasionally, you may notice slight flaking in localized areas. Avoid applying anything to the skin for a period of 24 hours. If absolutely necessary, a tinted moisturizer or mineral makeup can be applied. The following day, use a gentle cleanser, as well as hydrating cream twice or more a day, as needed. **ALWAYS wear SPF 30+ during daytime and avoid excessive sun exposure for a period of two weeks.**
it is extremely important that you do not pick, scratch, pull or rub your skin during or after your treatment. If you do, you may damage the underlying new skin and cause scarring or changes to your pigmentation.
**On the day following your treatment**, please avoid extensive exercise, sweating, sun or tanning beds, swimming pools/ hot water/saunas.
**For one week after treatment**, avoid waxing and other forms of exfoliation. Alpha Hydroxyl acids: (ie: glycolic acid), retinoids, beta hydroxyl acids (ie: salicylic acid) or perfumes on treated area is also to be avoided during this time.
Who is this treatment best suited for?
Dermaplaning is suitable for most skin types, however is not recommended for clients who are experiencing active breakouts, have excessive oil or laxity in the skin. Clients with dry, flaky skin should also be cautious, as dermaplaning can increase irritation.
**We are unable to perform this treatments on clients with the following contraindications** *(If a contrainication is present at time of booking, or when your skin therapist is completing their consult at time of appointment, they will alter treatment and perform the ProSkin 60 facial, without the incorporation of Dermaplaning)***:**
- Bruised skin on the face
- Sunburned skin
- skin rash, moles, skin tags, warts, psoriasis, seborrhea or eczema on treatment areas
- Active acne lesions, cold sores or open skin lesions
- Those undergoing cancer treatments
- Epilepsy
- Uncontrolled diabetes
- Hemophilia, or other bleeding disorders (should the skin be cut)
- Recent resurfacing such as laser, light therapy, microdermabrasion or
- Chemical peel within the past two weeks
- Has received cosmetic injectables within the past week
- Has used Retin-A within the past 7 days
- Has used isotretinoin (Accutane) in the past six months
- Has waxed within the past 48 hours
- Contagious skin disease or infection
- Blood transmitted diseases (HIV, hepatitis, herpes, etc)
- Use of blood thinner
How often can I receive Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning can be performed every 4 weeks, once the skin has completed its normal skin cycle, which takes approximately 30 days.

## 
Spa 901 is the flagship amenity of the Kootenay region. Opened in March of 2012, Spa 901 was designed by Karen Vonkeman, the same spa design consultant that teamed with 901 Fernie’s architect on the Banff Springs Spa, “Solace”. Originally built in 1908, Fernie’s historic schoolhouse was transformed by Parastone Developments as part of a $30 million residential project. With 6600 sq feet of space, Spa 901 is the only commercial space in the centrally located development of 44 high-end residential units.
Since opening, Spa 901 has been a unique addition to Fernie; opening the doors to destination spa seekers from across Canada and various parts of the world. Spa 901 adds a unique experience to Fernie’s growing tourism industry and also has the exclusive ability to accommodate for large group bookings, which has proven to be a popular option for the “weekend warriors” that frequent this growing resort town.
On March 2nd of 2015, ownership of Spa 901 was transferred to Laura Oleksow and Jessica Riley, two employees of Spa 901. With years of industry and management experience, in addition to a passion and drive for success, the two owners continue to grow Spa 901 in a positive and unique direction. Spa 901 is proud to be locally owned and operated.
